All Star Game

I hate how the All Star game has turned into a popularity contest. I really hate that aspect. The system desperately needs to be changed.

Varitek with his .219 average?!?!?! How is this possible? I mean come on, Seriously??!?? Sorry Dovi.. but this is just lunacy!

Jeter with his average stats. It just makes me mad.


I really wish Markakis could have made the team.

In the bottom of the 5th the Orioles scored 4 runs!!

Jones had a triple, Cintron drove him in with a double.
Markakis then had a single to drive in Cintron.
Huff doubled to bring in Markakis.
Millar then singled to bring Huff home!!!

The Tampa Bay Rays moved into first place today, after Boston lost, and the Rays won.

So Close

Orioles were so close to breaking the Sunday Slump.
In the top of the 12th Markakis had a leadoff single. Huff then singled.
Millar popped out, Luke Scott strick out.
Then Adam Jones had a base hit to score Markakis.
Orioles were leading 2-1.

Georger Sherril comes in to end the game.
But with 2 outs he walked Dmitri Young. And then Ronnie Belliard hit a 2 run homer to win the game.

Orioles lose 3-2.

Very tough and devastating loss.

Guthrie + Sunday = recipe for disaster.

We are going to the top of the 7th and the Orioles are trailing 1-0.

And the Guthrie/Sunday Curse continues.

Guthrie doubled , but was picked off.

Orioles have no runs on 5 hits.

Nationals have 1 run on 4 hits.


Come on Orioles lets get some runs!!

Nick Markakis Video

I made a Nick Markakis video a few months ago, and I'll post it here on my Orioles blog :)

Orioles vs. Nationals 6/28

Orioles win the Nationals 9-1 !!! Yaaay!

Boston lost today to the Astros so we gain a game on them. The Rays also lost.

The Yankees and the Blue Jays won. The standings look something like this....

Anyway back to tonights game...

Garret Olson was the starting pitcher for the Orioles. He went 5 innings and allowed 1 run on 6 hits , striking out 5 and walking 3. His ERA is 4.76. With tonights win it brings his record to 6-3.

Cormier pitched 4 innings of relief allowing 1 hit, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts. He recorded his first big league save.

The Orioles fell behind early in the first inning 1-0.

But it wasnt that way for long.

Alex Cintron had an RBI triple to tie the game.

Then Nick Markakis grounded to John Lannan, the pitcher, and he couldnt field the ball cleanly and Cintron scored from 3rd. It was ruled an error to the pitcher, and therefore Markakis didnt get the RBI. Joe Angel expressed in his post game thoughts that it shouldve been ruled an infield hit and RBI to Markakis , but Markakis didnt get the call.

Then Mora had an infield hit, and Huff had an RBI single. 3-1 Orioles.

Then in the 4th inning Scott had a leadoff Homerun , making his home run total 13.

Jones then singled, had a stolen base, and a passed ball allowed him to take 3rd.

Garret Olson then had a sacrifice fly to score Jones. Nice job there Garret to hit the ball :) 5-1 Orioles.

In the 5th inning Ramon Hernandez had a 2 run homer!!!

In that same inning Markakis and Mora added RBI singles to make the score 9-1 .

Tomorrow we desperately need a win. The Orioles have lost 11 consecutive Sunday games. This has to stop. The only Sunday game the Orioles have won, was the first Sunday of the season on April 6 against the Mariners. That was the game they scored 3 in the bottom of the 9th to win the Mariners 3-2. I was at that game.... it was pretty awesome. Orioles magic.

Anyway.. we really need to win and take the series from the Nationals.

Brian Roberts ended his 14 game win streak tonight .

Olson also had his first major league hit.. a bunt base hit .

Jones is 11-18 against the Nationals this year.
